If you've seen Away We Go, then you know that the term "cofactors" involves one of the first of many, many very funny lines in this film. Who know Maya Rudolph could play such a great straight man to John Krasinski's funny? The Hub & I really enjoyed this film.
We decided on a whim to check out the box office after our Lucky 13 anniversary celebration dinner. I'd heard Away We Go was good and it was the best time for us, so away we went.
Maggie Gyllenhaal almost steals the show. Throughout the film, the Hub & I laughed out loud often and thought the movie was great overall. Allison Janney, Catherine O'Hara & Jeff Daniels have great roles, too. And, great cameo by The Sound of Music.
What a laugh - and a little tears here & there (by me, not the Hub). It's essentially a story about two people in love, expecting a baby and looking for a place to call home. Their journey is the movie ... as they visit possible places to call home, they experience the best and almost the worst of the nuclear family unit.
What's interesting to me in the film each stop of the journey is labeled/announced with the city they are visiting. Except for the beginning start and the final stop, where they find home. For me, it's a great message that home isn't a label, and while it may be a place, the name may not matter.
It was a good movie to see on our anniversary ... while our journey may be different, everyone's life together is a journey and finding that special place, called home, is key to the journey. And, I like Verona & Burt's. A lot. Krasinski & Rudolph just landed themselves in the serious acting category and I can't wait to see what they do next.
